Jaxon makes tacos

December 8, 2008 DIY, Yummy Foods Comments

I’ve known Jaxon for at least 5 years now and I’ve never seen him cook anything. I’ve heard that he makes a mean ramen from the package but never tried it, so who knows if it’s true…lol.

Anyhoo…since we were in Las Vegas for a week earlier last month, Jaxon decided he would whip up his famous beef tacos for us to eat. The day he cooked was the day Blizzard released World of Warcraft’s 2nd expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. So while Jaxon slaved over the stove, Jon and I got to explore Northrend.

The video might not be super exciting for most of you guys but I think it’s pretty funny. I guess you’d really have to watch the whole video to see my favorite part.

Woops forgot to mention that the tacos were really really tasty! The shell was just warmed and slightly fried while the beef was soft and flavorful. I added some salsa verde to mine and it was super yum :P

DIY Korean Tofu

December 6, 2008 DIY, Yummy Foods Comments

So a few days ago Jon and I went to the Hong Kong Supermarket in San Gabriel and picked up a few things, one of them being this Korean Tofu powder ($1.99 btw). We love eating this stuff at all the Korean tofu places near by, but the thought of making it at home while in PJs was just too fabulous!! I’m sure this isn’t a new thing but since it was the first time I had seen it, I had to get it.

It was super cold tonight so I decided to make it and of course blog about it! lol I’m lame…

1) Opened the package and noticed that it contained 3 servings. The larger packets were the seasoning powder and the smaller ones chili oil. make korean tofu at home

2) Measured out 8oz of water and boiled it in a small pot. Added the seasoning packet once the water was boiled. Turned down the heat.

3) Opened 1 container of silky tofu and sliced it in 1/2 cause I wasn’t about to eat 16oz of tofu by myself (come to think of it…I don’t think there would have been enough soup for 16oz of tofu…not in 1 serving at least).

4) Didn’t have fresh mushrooms on hand so I found a can of mushrooms and decided to throw half of it in. Of course I didn’t forget to add an egg to the pot cause that’s the best part of the tofu dish in my opinion.

5) Turned off the stove, poured the chili oil into the pot, and poured it into a bowl.

Overall the taste was ok…reminded me of those Mama ramen packets minus the lemongrass taste. It was spicy but maybe between a medium to spicy if you were to order it at a Korean tofu place. I think I should have used chicken broth instead of the water cause it might have added more flavor. Throwing in some real Kimchi probably would have helped.. lol Anyhoo, if i had to rate it, I’d probably give it a 6.5/10.

I do have to say that maybe I missed all the little sides you usually get when you go to a tofu place…but I did have a piece of gum after the meal and immediately spit it out to make sure that the flavor would only last 3 seconds… you know…to keep the experience authentic.. AHAHAHAHha

For all you Star Wars fans out there this might be an old video but I just listened to it and I think it’s hilarious. I’m pretty sure the guy on the Microsoft end is an outsourced employee so that’s why he didn’t recognize the voice…but who knows if I would have recognized it..lol. Either way I think it’s a funny call and I kinda feel bad for him :(

Eyeshadow stickers

November 7, 2008 Cool Stuff Comments

I know that the whole smokey eye look has been so popular the last few years and since it’s not the easiest technique to master, ColorOn Professional invented eyeshadow stickers to help with the hard part…blending! Even though I think the blending looks great after it’s done…it is very expensive to buy. 20 applications for $35 seems a bit high…but then again it’s not as expensive as hiring a makeup artist every time you want to fancy it up. Checkout some videos on this product.

Original video from their website

Here’s a video of an application that um.. looks funny to me cause the pink isn’t really shaded to the shape of her eyes, but I think that’s probably a pretty common problem unless you blend it out yourself. Pretty colors though…

Here’s another video of someone using their products and I actually like the idea of it but realistically…who is going to wear that unless it’s Halloween or you’re really trying to get some attention… lol. And once again, the shape of the eyeshadow isn’t very flattering…

I wonder how they can customize it for people with eyelids that aren’t so thick. I’m guessing that the eyeshadow will end up in their eyebrows… ahahahah.

Breast Exams

November 2, 2008 Laugh Out Loud Comments

Early detection is the key and I think these eagle scouts are doing a great job promoting the importance of doing regular breast exams on yourself or better yet, having someone else do them for you. Like these 2 :)

I especially love how they have to squeeze your nipples to check for irregularities…lol gotta love onion news

I’ve always though Praying Mantis were cool (I especially loved Manny from Bugs Life) and after seeing some videos on YouTube I’m beginning to love them more. I think I really want one as a pet. Here are a few videos I thought were cool and maybe you guys will too…

Cool one being handfed

This one is freaken huge…but awesomeee

I felt bad for her…but still hilarious

I’m not sure how many of you guys have the time to watch TV on your computer but if you do, you have to checkout Hulu! A lot of you probably watch it already but until recently when our cable was out for a few days I hadn’t really watched full episodes. Sooo…not having anything to do while I eat lunch, I started to look around on that site.

First I watched some Office, then Family Guy, then I found the most awesome show ever! Mushi-shi rockssssssssssssssss! Inspired by the many people around me that watch anime (ahem Nina Kay..lol) I decided to try to watch this full series..or whatever is online.

Mushi-shi is about a traveling Mushi Master that goes to little towns in Japan and helps them out with various problems. I love it cause it tells really awesome folk stories that are so original and beautiful. My favorite is Inside the Cage cause it’s so sad but full of love :)

SOoooo check it out if you’re looking for something to watch while you are eating or wasting time at work..lol.

Last night Jon and I took my parents to go watch Medieval Times and it was really fun! The last time I went was 5 years ago with Jon and there have been a [More]

Ok I lied, anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE to watch cooking shows… especially Good Eats and Top Chef. I do know someone that hates watching [More]

Nina Kay has mad skills and here’s the proof! I just have to say…after I posted the photos last time…I actually got messages and emails from people telling me that seeing those photos got them “excited”. EWEE! Nina! What are these people thinking when they see your tongue trick???? lol
